Congratulations on your weight loss thus far! That’s truly incredible. Sounds like you’ve hit a plateau. When you lose a lot of weight, your body learns what you’re up to and tries to conserve energy by lowering your metabolic rate. The best way to trick your body back into losing weight is to vary your caloric intake every day for a week or two. Let’s say you’re eating about 1500 calories every day to lose weight, and that’s worked thus far. You’re still exercising every day and still eating around 1500, and now you’ve plateaued. What you want to do now is vary your intake from 1200 to maybe 1800 every day. Now, you can either do it where you one day you eat 1800, the next 1200, then 1800, then 1200, or vary it even a little more like going from 1800, to 1200, to 1600, to 1400. See what works best for your body. You should only have to do this for a week, maybe 2, so if you’re not seeing results with one way, then try the other!
Now you want to vary your exercise. If you’re doing the same motions every day, over and over again, your body learns how to perform those actions exerting less energy. So try a new class at the gym! Run up hills instead of flat surfaces! Try out some new ab exercises that work muscles you’ve never worked before! Switching up your workout routine will not only keep you from getting bored, but it will also shock your body and hopefully bust you through this plateau.
And just keep doing what you’re doing! Drink plenty of water, eat clean, and exercise daily. Hopefully these tips help, but if after all that your scale still isn’t budging, then perhaps your body is at the weight it’s supposed to be. 150 seems like a very healthy weight, but 165 can be too! Especially if you’ve built a lot of muscle during your weight loss, then you’re going to weigh more than a person who is your height and naturally thin (muscle ways more than fat remember!). Try focusing less on the number and more on how you feel and look. Maybe you want a stronger core, or more prominent abs? Work towards achieving those as opposed to a particular number. Be proud of everything you’ve accomplished and just work on continuing to lead a healthy lifestyle :)
